Metaphor

Well … metaphors are like similes. How about … metaphors are to commanding images, as relationships are to analogies? No? All right. Teaching and learning are more effective when we are able to recognize relationships between things new (and somewhat unfamiliar) and things familiar. A metaphor captures an idea and connects it to something familiar and something visual, elevating both interest and understanding.
