Cognitive Skills

This is one of our soapbox issues for K-12 education. We believe that classroom instruction should invest more in helping students develop thinking skills such as interpreting and inferring from information and observations, recognizing patterns, connecting concepts with previous experiences, applying problem solving strategies, et al. And akin to developing and maintaining muscular strength, cognitive strength results from use and a strong sense of pay-off for “exercising” the brain.
